Lucky Strike Lanes Café

1691 Michigan Ave., Miami Beach

A perfect pairing of food and fun for multitasking Miami Beach residents and visitors can be found at the clever and lively Lucky Strike Lanes Café.

The first Lucky Strike opened in Hollywood, Calif., in 2003, capturing classic elements of old Hollywood and being recognized as “America’s first true bowling lounge,” complete with bowling, beverages and decidedly good food. There are now numerous locations nationwide, with Lucky Strike’s signature Hollywood feel and classic American chic a perfect match for South Beach.

This isn’t your uncle’s bowling alley.

Art in several mediums helps craft the chic atmosphere at Lucky Strike, and since its initial California opening, there has been a focus on local/emerging artists — providing a highly sought-after venue.

Lucky Strike merchandise, from a retro bowling bag to a limited edition Zippo lighter, is popular with fans — a way to capture a little piece of the magic of this uncommon entertainment site.

Bowling rates are reasonable, ranging from $4.95 per person per game to group hourly rates that go from $55 to $75; shoe rental is available at a nominal charge. Billiard rates are $10 per hour daily before 5 p.m. and $15 per hour daily after 5 p.m.

Although some have referred to the cuisine at Lucky Strike Lanes Café as classic American, the menu is vast, eclectic and completely unlike that of a classic “bowling alley.” Diners can choose from small plates such as Key West Chicken, Lime Chicken and a Surf and Turf Sampler; Boneless Chicken Bites with a choice of sauces; Breakfast All Day, including a delightful take on Toads in a Hole (bread loaf with egg cut-outs, lathered with garlic butter, pan-fried and served with mixed greens, balsamic dressing and garlic croutons); a number of tasty specialties; snacks such as Baked Potato Chips, Warm Brie and Blue Cheese Chips; plenty of burgers, sandwiches, salads and gourmet pizzas; and decadent desserts.

Its expansive menu permits Lucky Strike to offer something for virtually any taste.

Founded in Hollywood hipness, Lucky Strike has made a comfortable home in Miami Beach — attracting myriad fans and aficionados of good fun and good food.
