It’s finally summer in the city! After one of the coldest Junes on record and a whole lot of rain, the
heat is on. The Big Apple was baked with temperatures soaring past the 90-degree mark, and sweaty in the city was Jack Nicholson. The star was on 78th Street and Lex
wearing a jacket only because he’s in town to film a romantic comedy with Diane Keaton, Amanda Peet (a native New Yorker), and Frances McDormand. It looked like the
wet and wild Nicholson couldn’t handle the heat, but he still let out his signature smile for the cameras in Central Park.
Wet is also the look for lips this summer. Lancome’s new shiny dewy Juicy Rouge lipstick is on the kisser
of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s gorgeous Ford model daughter, Elizabeth Jagger. The nubile 19-year-old lives in the city (is very single) and was at Bloomingdale’s
pimping her Juicy pout as spokesperson for Lancome. Her lips looked better than Mick’s, so I bought a tube. The color: Simmer.
It seems that with the wave of rising temps, love (or lust) is taking over the Big Apple. The
endorphins are running high, and here are New York City’s hottest couples:
Penelope Cruz and
Tom Cruise
Heat Factor: Uncomfortably warm
There were the rumors of trouble in paradise, but Tom Cruise showed the public that his pucker still belongs to Penelope. At the Chelsea
Piers for an award honoring him for his role in Hollywood Education and Literacy Project, the shaggy mopped Cruise kissed a cropped with bangs Cruz in front of many flashing cameras. PDAs
are back.
Beyonce and
Jay-Z
Heat Factor: Sizzling, chance of rain
Her solo debut album is called Dangerously In Love. He is featured doing his rap on her first single
“Crazy In Love.” The pair’s chemistry is ablaze in the video for the song, but the off-again, on-again pair keep mum about their romance. The curvaceous diva performed a free concert for NBC’s Today Show at Rockefeller Plaza.
The Brooklyn-born Jigga man was not in sight.
Paris Hilton and Sum 41 vocalist
Deryck Whibley
Heat Factor: Hot with a chance of thunderstorms
Beauty and the beast, although punk rocker Whibley is oddly adorable. The New York socialite, hotel
heiress, party girl Paris has been out and about with the Canadian rocker. Paris’s gal pal Nicole Richie (Lionel’s daughter and Paris’s costar in the reality show “The Simple Life,” which follows the girls’ going from Manolos to manure when they move
their high rolling life to Arkansas) had made some music with Sum 41’s drummer Steve Jocz.
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
Heat Factor: Scorching
Forty year-old Demi has never looked better and 25-year-old Kutcher is gorgeous. At the Charlie’s
Angels 2: Full Throttle premiere in New York, Ms. Moore had the Ashton accessory on again. The pair
have toured NYC together—being spotted at Club Flow on Varick Street, lunching at Cipriani’s downtown, and holding hands at the Norah Jones show at the Beacon Theatre.
Cameron Diaz and
Justin Timberlake
Heat Factor: Hazy and Hot
Although this pairing cannot outshine that of Moore and Kutcher, Diaz is nine years Timberlake’s senior.
The blonde, blue-eyed babe was spotted shopping for shoes in Soho without Justin and the ex-NSYNCer was not at the NYC premiere. “New York is different than L.A.,” Cameron said. “It’s a
little more vociferous.”
Drew Barrymore and The Strokes’
drummer Fabrizio Moretti
Heat Factor: Sizzling
When twenty-eight-year-old Drew was a guest on The David Letterman Show, filmed at the
Ed Sullivan theatre, twenty-two-year-old Fabrizio was in the green room acting as a sounding board for Drew’s interview with Dave. The actress looked very happy and blushed when speaking
about her man, and no, she didn’t doff her top and dance for Letterman (apparently that’s only for his birthday show).
50 Same Sex Couples
Heat Factor: Scorching
The Supreme Court's landmark ruling
deeming Texas's ban on homosexual sex unconstitutional, following the ruling granting marriage rights to gays in Ontario, Canada
came in perfect timing for New York City’s Annual Gay Pride Parade. Amongst the gay NYPD members, leather
men, and rainbow-mohawked lesbians, fifty same sex couples said “I do” in Central Park (although gay unions are not yet recognized in
NY). The parade then
proudly marched from 52nd Street to Greenwich Village with almost 1/2 a million people involved. Mayor Michael Bloomberg
was gay (as in happy) as he paraded down 5th Avenue thinking of all the votes he hoped to gain. (Bill Clinton is eyeing NYC’s mayor seat.)
So who is the hottest pairing? You decide, but I say the Bloomberg v. Clinton makes one very steamy match-up.
