TAKE IT ALL OFF: Back Door Bamby proved that a strip contest still attracts an audience as Crobar was mobbed Monday night for their First
Amateur Strip Contest. The crowd enthusiastically cheered and did not hesitate to yell “Take it off… Take it all off!” A frisky dude named Tiger, the one dude who did take it
all off, won the first place prize. Second place went to the energetic blonde, the only one who willingly showed her tits, and third place went to a brunette lass from London who was
forced to show her tits by the randy Peter Rage who was raring to show his own wares. A date with Peter Rage was in fact the third prize. Most of the contestants were energetic
dancers but not so eager about disrobing but alas that’s what a strip contest is all about. One muscular dancer showed quite a bit of skin and was the best dancer, however he was not a
winner so a few of the judges (myself included) thought there might have been a bit of foul play in the tallying up of the scores. The group of dancers who commanded the stage pre-show
seemed ready and willing to show their wares but were not in the contest, however they did warm up the crowd (myself included). Among those SEEN: DJ Phearce, DJ Gigi, DJ Shannon, Janet
Jorgulesco, photographer Tom Grizzle, designer Peter Page, Gay Joy, Shelly (celebrating a birthday), Tony Miros, Dani and Tania (the witches), David Marvel,
Adrian, Ricky Salazar, Rudolph Piper (NERVE), Mykel Stevens, Nicole, Alternative TV3’s Buster (the MC), DJ Gregoria S(who claimed to be shooting a porno later that evening in
the upstairs VIP lounge), Juana, George Slover (Barton G) & Edgar, Rachel Ovadia (Nurielle) and Patricia Prado.
END (OR BEGINNING) OF SUMMER WEEKEND: In case you haven’t noticed Labor Day Weekend is scheduled for this coming weekend. I’m lobbying for a new holiday
that combines Labor Day & Memorial Day Weekends (since I always confuse the two anyway). One year the holiday will be at the beginning of the summer and the next year at the end of the
summer but the holiday will always be called Memorial Labor Day (Weekend). In some states that holiday will also mark the beginning (or end depending on the year) of Daylight Savings Time.
That way everyone should be confused. Why should I be the only one.
BEACH BUZZ: So folks, Club Nerve isn’t for sale, just Michael Storms’ minor percentage. Word from Nikki Beach says all is running well,
even with the continuing battles with the city, and this week they are launching their own magazine called “Nikki Style.” If you were in Club Deuce last Saturday at 1 p.m.
(yes in the afternoon) you would have seen a group of ladies (not my description) including Elaine Lancaster and Traci Lords still partying from the night before where the
party began at Prive. This coming Friday night the blondes will be partying at Prive once again, this time Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie (stars of their own reality
show) as well as Elaine Lancaster who will be celebrating a birthday. Origin, a new Asian bistro & Sushi located at 754 Washington Avenue, opens next week getting a jump start on
season. Word on the street has several people taking over LEVEL but we’ll wait until we hear the final (and real) story. The same source tells me that hotel king Ian Schrager
has filed bankruptcy for the Clift Hotel in San Francisco but it affects all his hotels since loans against the hotels (particularly the Delano) were drawn for that property.
Speaking of hotels, some are betting at the South Beach Ritz-Carlton won’t open even though construction continues. And a word of warning to all you lovely club people out in
clubland, rumor has it that the DEA seems to be in town (or at least the clubs) for a convention (or some other conflagration). If you happen to oversleep and miss church on Sunday and
feel the need to go out then head over to NERVE for their “late afternoon and all evening soiree” called REFRESH (formerly known as Graduation). Remember to send all nightlife info,
invitations and stripper photos to Cubbysobe@hotmail.com. Until next
week, see you out.
