Dr. Potter Teaches Children to Improve Grades and Achieve Goals

Dr. Elizabeth Potter
Dr. Elizabeth Potter is a neuroscientist researcher by training, who enjoys tutoring children and young adults in Math, Science & English.
Her academic credentials include 12 years of neuroscience research, a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins Medical, and a B.A. from the University of Chicago as a History & Philosophy of Science &
Medicine liberal arts major. Her students really appreciate the help they receive for their Math classes, English papers & Science projects: as a result, several have obtained high school
& college scholarships.
“I specialize in tutoring bright children & young adults, but I believe all children are bright enough to improve their grades,” Dr. Potter
explains. Her approach is to ask parents and the student to set a goal, create a strategy for achieving the goal, and then guide students through the fundamentals, employing positive
reinforcement (praise) in order to encourage students to work, learn and accomplish those goals. Dr. Potter adds, “For many bright children, taking the time to learn logical methods, and
making the effort to understand new concepts, is a ‘foreign experience,’ because they understand so many things instantly.” Thus, “learning how to learn” can lead to improvement in grades
and self-esteem.
Dr. Potter also teaches young students how to study for preparatory tests and special projects, which may result in obtaining a scholarship
or admittance to a prestigious school. “I do my part, but realize the student is largely responsible for the positive results we see. I guide students through a road map, and encourage
them to live up to their potential and dreams.” While taking a break from academic research and earning her M.B.A., Dr. Potter has time available for teaching children and college
students. To set up an appointment, call Dr. Potter at 305-867-6182 or email
