The Miami Boutique Hotels division of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau claims it will “break the mold of hospitality industry” with the debut of a CD called Suite Dreams, according to a press release.   

Suite Dreams is a sensual compilation journey where sounds meet imagination, reflecting the sophistication and style of Miami’s boutique hotels,” stated a Tara Ink, GMCVB press release. “Compiled and mixed by Aquabooty, and exclusively envisioned for the Miami Boutique Hotels program, the Suite Dreams CD features the work of cutting-edge artists like King Britt, John Beltran, and Solar House.”

The CD will be debuted at Big Time Production’s Paris Theater. “[The theater] will be transformed into a dream sequence through creative lighting, projections and live art installations,” the release stated. “A tag team of Suite Dreams artists and internationally known DJs, including John Beltran, Paolo Albertoni, and Tomas Ceddia, along with live art performers will inspire, awe and entertain an invited group of New York’s, Los Angeles’ and Miami’s elite.”

The Miami Boutique Hotels program is a “lifestyle initiative” of the GMCVB and supports over 120 boutique hotels in the Greater Miami area through innovative incentives targeting music, film, and fashion genres.

REAL ESTATE: The Royal Bay Group announced a November groundbreaking for Lofts at Mayfair in Coconut Grove. Architect Reinaldo Borges, who aims to capture the Grove’s contemporary, laid-back ambiance, is designing the building, which is expected to be completed by January 2006. The Lofts at Mayfair will have a state-of-the-art fitness center, heated pool, whirlpool spa and second-floor sundeck surrounded by tropical landscaping. This will be a pet-friendly building and the penthouses on the fifth floor will include rooftop terraces.

Movers-n-Shakers

 

Tribute will be paid to six Miami Beach High graduates and one faculty member as they are inducted into Miami Beach Sr. High School Alumni Association’s Sixth Annual Hall of Fame. This year’s celebration will be held on Friday, November 19 with an induction ceremony and luncheon at the Deauville Beach Resort, 6701 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, at 11:30 a.m.

“The goal of the Miami Beach Senior High School Alumni Association is to make sure that our traditions, history, and the accomplishments of those who came before are preserved and shared with the generations who are growing up and those who will be the future,” said Association President Becky Spector Herrup (Class of ‘73).  “If we don’t share our rich history and treasure the memories, future generations of our families, schools, and community will be ignorant of a history that serves as the foundation upon which character and a sense of identity are built.”

VISUAL ARTS: Coconut Grove Artist Erika King has been commissioned by the Radio Shack Corporation to create a collage for their new corporate headquarters in Ft. Worth, Texas. “The Radio Shack Story” will be a virtual visual history told through photographs, articles, logos and paint.  King’s work has been collected internationally and most recently she created official licensed artwork for the NBA.

 
Nancy Klock Corey

PROMOTED: Nancy Klock Corey, manager of Coldwell Banker for 25 years, was recently named manager of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, Inc.’s Pinecrest Villages office. Corey had managed the company’s Kendall Town & Country office, and is currently the director of the Miami Coldwell Banker Cares Foundation.

 

NEW BOARD: The Miami Museum of Science & Planetarium has elected Daniel M. Bell and Trish Bell as co-chairs of the Board of Trustees.

Trish Bell has been an active supporter of the Museum of Science for more than 20 years, and has been a member since 1997. She and her husband chaired the Museum’s first annual Galaxy Gala in 2003. She is a board member of the Community Partnership for the Homeless, a supporter of the Red Cross, The Villagers, the University of Miami Women’s Guild, and Gables Estates Club, among others.

Daniel Bell is co-founder and chairman of Kos Pharmaceuticals and has been on the Museum’s board since 2002. He has seen Kos grow into a large, national sales company. Before, he was executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Miami-based Key Pharmaceuticals.

Other board members include Joseph L. Falk, Guillermo Gomez, Timothy LaMacchia,Victor M. Alvarez. Paula Lou Brockway and Brenda Nestor are two newly-elected members.

 

PROMOTED: Peebles Atlantic Development Corporation promoted Eladio Izquierdo to the position of corporate administrator. Izquierdo began as assistant to the CEO of PADC in 2000. Izquierdo will oversee all PADC corporate administration and related staff. He will continue working with elected public officials, executives of major local and national corporations, financial institutions, and community organizations in conjunction with PADC endeavors.

 

APPOINTED: Richard L. Walker has been named chief financial officer for the Miami Performing Arts Center. This is a newly created position and Walker will report directly to Michael C. Hardy, the president and CEO of the Performing Art Center Trust. Walker will plan and direct the finance department’s operations, the department responsible for the business, information technology and legal affairs of the Trust. Walker will also be responsible for developing the Center’s financial policies and procedures, participating in the development of contract formats for the Center, developing purchasing policies and standards, supervising purchasing and inventory functions and reporting to the county government at all levels on matters related to the Center’s finance and legal affairs. Walker was CFO at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida and managed the accounting and human resources department. Before that, he was at the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, in Charlotte for 11 years, where he started as senior accountant and was promoted to controller and then to CFO.

FLU SHOTS: On Monday, November 1st from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be free flu shots offered to seniors, 65 and over, who have Medicaid, Medicare or other HMO’s. The shots will be given at St. Mary Magdalene Church Parish Hall on 17775 Bay Road, Sunny Isles Beach. AWARDS: The American Red Cross of Greater Miami is accepting nominations for their Spectrum Awards luncheon honoring exceptional women. The nominees should be women who have had a notable influence on the vitality and growth of their communities. Categories include: community service, cultural, educational, entrepreneurial, health care, philanthropy, volunteerism, youth, and special recognition awards such as Miami Ambassador and the Chairmen’s Award.
