The
Super Bowl is taking place miles away from here in the
vast expanse of the
Arizona desert somewhere. Ok, so maybe it’s just
Phoenix, but nonetheless I hope all the 305ers heading
there right now for a week of football-themed fun choke
on some sand and get eaten by vultures. I’ve never been
to Arizona, but that’s how I picture it and as such I’m
sure you understand why I’ve never been to Arizona. Yes,
I’m a hater. I’m stuck in an office while Matt Heien,
the gorgeous big-blue-eyed beauty Ali Moon,
David Grutman, Alan Roth and Tommy Pooch
are all living it up. Pout! Pout! Pout! Pooch and Roth
have it the best, I’m sure. Being co-publishers of
944 Magazine has its perks and they are cashing in
this week. The magazine is the official lifestyle
magazine for the Super Bowl and they even have their own
village! The 944
Super
Village
is going to be celeb central for everyone from 50
Cent to Paris Hilton and dude, I mean
everyone. Who’s scheduled to be there? Well, I’m
glad you asked ’cause I get paid by the word. Here’s a
list of just some of the notables scheduled to kick it
at the Village and pay tribute to Chiefs Pooch and Roth:
Donald Trump, Fall Out Boy, Wyclef Jean,
Velvet Revolver, Paul Oakenfold, Cisco Adler,
Mickey Avalon and Steve Aoki.
Brosia Baby
I love to name drop. It’s how I validate my otherwise
shallow existence and this little shindig has helped my
cause to no end. The opening of Brosia in downtown
Miami two Thursdays ago was the place to be if you were
looking to mingle with some of Miami’s biggest movers
and shakers. The Mediterranean restaurant hosted a bash
that saw all manner of local celebrities come out of the
woodwork and dip into some falafel. David Edelstein
and Romero Britto were sipping on white and red
sangria and the Charbay vodka flowed readily, keeping
the crowd nice and loose. DJ Ross One, of Mokai
fame, laid down the sounds, a loungy Ibiza-style vibe
that almost made me feel I was kickin’ it on the
Balearic Isle. Executive Chef Arthur Artiles
served a steak tartare and Moroccan shrimp dish that was
oh, so yum. Another notable party planner was none other
than marketing genius and Gorillas mastermind
Jimmy Vargas, who let it slip that he will be
throwing a new Wednesday night party at the new Design
District hot spot, Domo Japones. Starting in February,
the dinner party, called “Cocktails Anyone?” will no
doubt be the place to kick it in the not-so-distant
future. Louis Oliver is also kicking it at Domo
these days; he said he will be hosting a party called
“Sake 2 Me” on Tuesdays, starting Feb. 5.
Other guests included designer Julien Chang and
artist Lebo. Miami Magazine Editor
Richard Martin was also there, being that his
magazine co-sponsored the event.
It seems like the Design District is quickly becoming a
hot commodity for potential restaurateurs. Iron Chef
Masaharu Morimoto has been seen frequenting a number
of restaurants there too. One insider suggests this is a
preliminary move before the iron chef sets up his own
shop right here in our backyard.
Domo Arigato Again
I’m not just whistling
Dixie when I tell you that this little doozie has
quickly become destination central in the Design
District. Florida Inside Out Editor-in-Chief
Sarah Harrelson, the Rubells and Iran Issa-Khan
have all made it a regular haunt, and even the
irrepressible Nicola Siervo of Mokai, Mynt and
Quattro fame loves to wine and dine there.
To the Bay Point
If you missed the Bay Point Charity Gala two Saturday
nights ago, you were most likely at the Stoli Hotel
getting your freak on with Dwyane Wade as he
celebrated (yet again) his birthday. The Stoli party
started off slow, but by one in the morning it was off
the chain. There were celebrity appearances by Bill
Bellamy and Busta Rhymes and the free vodka
was killer.
Still, the real action that night was at the Bay Point
charity fundraiser. I had told you it was rumored that
Paris Hilton and Pam Anderson might drop
by the altruistic bash. Well, I was half right. Pam
Anderson was definitely there with the fabulous,
gender-bending Elaine Lancaster, who was rarely
seen separated from the Baywatch beauty.
Paris, on the other hand, was a no-show.
The gala’s official after party was at Mansion, but the
celebs made their way to Set, where Scott Weiland
and Anderson were spotted in the trophy room till the
wee hours of the morning.
